QUT recognises its responsibility and commitment to develop better access
to university education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people so
that more have opportunities to participate in the higher levels of education.
This initiative is facilitated through QUT’s Oodgeroo Unit.
QUT’s Caboolture campus received a Collaborative Structural Reform
Grant (CASR) which focuses on identifying and developing strategies to improve
educational outcomes and pathways to tertiary education and employment. In
conjunction with this project, the Oodgeroo Unit at QUT’s Caboolture
campus hosted celebrations for NAIDOC week. This event encouraged local school
students to celebrate Indigenous Australians’ history, culture, and
achievements, and to explore educational and employment opportunities. (CASR
Report)
The Oodgeroo Unit at QUT’s Caboolture Campus has been actively involved
in community activities including the North Regional Murri Network, the Caboolture
Shire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Focus Group and Caboolture
Shire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities in Partnership Council.
